Christian Education Electives
ELECTIVE I
ROOM - #3 – FLC
TEACHER: Sandra Hatter
TOPIC: “LIVING IN THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS”
Holiness cannot be earned; it can only be imparted by God. Holiness is not simply conversion, nor is it dedicating oneself to God. Rather, as we participate in HIS divine nature, we stand in awe at the beauty of HIS holiness and also receive it as our own. We can cooperate with the Holt Spirit and claim the promise that one day, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM!
ELECTIVE II
ROOM #5-FLC
TEACHER: Jim Pratt
TOPIC: “Words from the Fire by R. Albert Mohler, Jr. – Hearing the Voice of God in the 10 Commandments”
In a society prone to self-interest and resistant to the notion of authority, the Ten Commandments are widely misunderstood or simply ignore. Monotheistic and directive, they smack of exclusivity and demand absolute obedience. Not even believers, though quick to defend the Commandments as part of our heritage, spend much time learning or teaching them to their children. Curious treatment for words that reveal God and frame the identity of His people.
Yet, there is great reward for those who explore these words in all their beauty and truth, for they speak of One who loves. And because He has spoken, we can know His love and respond in kind.
Though invisible, God does speak, forthrightly revealing what He is like and how we can know Him. Even written on tablets so long ago, these words still resonate and apply to our minds, hearts and live today. The question is, how will we respond?
ELECTIVE III
ROOM-#6 FLC
TEACHER: Pastor Bret
TOPIC: “effective parenting in a defective world – how to raise kids who stand out from the crowd.” By Chip Ingram
You can raise successful children even in this fallen world! In this day and age, children face a far more effective world than the children of previous decades. Everyday they are bombarded with the pressures and influences of drugs, sex, and violence. Parents are left helpless, as every godly principle they teach their children is contradicted by the corrupt principles of this defective world. But the truth is, God has a plan for effectively raising your children and you can learn it too.
ELECTIVE IV
ROOM-Fellowship Hall – Main Building
TEACHER: Charlotte Glenn
Unit One – TRUTHS FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING – The three letters of the apostle John and the Epistle of Judy comprise the first unit of the winter quarter. These letters speak strongly against false teachers. They instruct Christians to have genuine faith and live holy!
GROWING SPIRITUALLY – Draws from various Old and New Testament passages addressing spiritual growth. We are taught to grow personally, through God’s Word, through prayer and intentionally. As Christians we cannot stay in the same place and become stagnant but must continue to grow in every way.
